We get this question every spring and summer when guests want to extend a Jahorina trip beyond just hiking and dinner: where can I rent a quad on the mountain? Several operators run quad and ATV rentals on Jahorina, and the experience is genuinely worth booking. Jahorina has a dense network of forest tracks, ski-piste service roads, and high-meadow trails that are perfect for a guided two-hour ride.
Below are the four operators we know, what each one offers, the rough price brackets, and the questions worth asking before you book. If you’re coming up from the city for the day, our private transfer from Sarajevo to Jahorina covers the road options.
Quick facts: quads on Jahorina
- Season: year-round in theory, but the main quad season is May–October. Winter rides are offered by some operators if snow conditions permit.
- Typical ride length: 1, 2, or 4 hours, or a full day
- Ride format: almost always with a guide. The trails aren’t signposted and operators don’t rent quads for unsupervised use
- Capacity: most quads seat 1 or 2 people
- Driving licence: a regular car licence (B category) is sufficient; some operators ask for a brief crash-course before the ride
- Equipment included: helmet, goggles, gloves, jacket. Provided by the operator
- Age limit: drivers 18+; passengers usually 6+ depending on the operator
- Price range: roughly 50-80 KM per hour for a guided 2-person ride, more for full-day or premium quad models
The 4 quad rental operators on Jahorina
1. VIP Jahorina Rent A Quad
One of the longest-running quad operators on the mountain. They run small group rides (one or both passengers per quad) and have a fleet that mixes 4 dedicated quads with around 10 ATVs they bring in for larger bookings. Routes go across the Jahorina plateau, through forest tracks, and along ski-piste service roads. Areas that are normally only reachable on foot.
The crash course before the ride is short (a few minutes on a flat area), then a guide leads the group along a marked route. They emphasise sticking to the agreed route, straying from it can damage the quad and they’ll bill for it.

- Best for: first-time quad riders, couples
2. Jahorina Prestige Quad Rental
The same group that runs Jahorina Prestige ski school and equipment rental in winter operates a quad fleet in summer. They have around 10 quads available and offer guided group rides, often combined with hotel pickup and rental gear hire. Their advantage is the wider service package — if you’re already a guest at a hotel they work with, the booking is simpler.

- Best for: guests already booked with Jahorina Prestige hotels or services
3. Jahorina Quad Rental Adventures
The operator with the most explicit winter offer. They run quad tours through the snow when conditions permit — snowmobile-style routes through the forest, tailored for guests who want a different winter activity instead of skiing. In summer they run the standard guided rides.

- Best for: winter quad rides, off-season visits
4. Jahorina Net ATV Rental
The smallest of the four operators we’ve worked with, but also the most flexible: they offer guided rides and self-drive within a defined area for experienced riders. They’ll deliver to your hotel in some cases, which the others don’t usually do.

- Best for: riders with prior quad experience, hotel-delivery requests
What to ask before you book
- Is it solo or 2-up? Most quads at these operators seat one or two. Confirm the configuration so you don’t end up with a quad split between three people.
- Is the ride guided or unsupervised? All four operators normally lead group rides. Self-drive within a small fixed area is sometimes possible: only book this if you’ve ridden quads before.
- What’s the route? Jahorina plateau, forest, ski-piste service roads — different operators favour different routes. Ask for the route description in writing if you’re set on a particular area (e.g. close to Ogorjelica peak).
- What if the weather turns? Most operators reschedule for free if rain is heavy enough to make the trails dangerous. Confirm the cancellation policy in writing.
- Is helmet/jacket included? Standard answer is yes, but check the size range if you’re tall or have small kids riding as a passenger.
- Damage deposit? Some operators take a deposit upfront — usually 100-300 KM. Refunded after the ride if no damage. Plan for cash.
What a typical 2-hour Jahorina quad ride actually looks like
The standard ride starts at the operator’s base near the main resort village. After a short crash course (basic controls, throttle, brake, posture) and gear fitting, the guide leads the group on a route that usually includes:
- A warm-up section on a wide forest track to let everyone get comfortable with the controls
- A higher-elevation section across the Jahorina plateau or along the ski piste service roads, where the views open up
- A photo stop at one of the high-meadow viewpoints (often the area around the Ogorjelica chairlift)
- Return via a different route, usually through forest
Total distance varies but you’re typically covering 15-25 km in two hours. The pace is slow-to-moderate — quad rides on Jahorina aren’t a racing experience, they’re a sightseeing one. Don’t expect adrenaline-level speeds.
What to wear and bring
- Closed shoes — sneakers or hiking boots are fine; flip-flops won’t be allowed
- Long pants. Even in summer, the forest sections kick up dust and small branches
- Sunglasses, even with goggles, sunglasses are useful in bright weather
- Water and a small snack — there’s no shop on the trail
- A camera/phone with strap — the photo stops are good but losing your phone in the dust is real
- Cash for the deposit: most operators don’t run cards for the security deposit
The drive up, sorted
Most quad-renting guests come up from Sarajevo for the day, or are already on the mountain after a ski week stretches into spring. The road from Sarajevo takes 45-60 minutes depending on traffic. We coordinate the timing with the quad operator so you arrive 30 minutes before the ride starts: enough buffer for the gear fitting and crash course without sitting around for an hour.
If you’d like us to handle the transfer side of the day, send us your dates, group size, and which operator you’ve booked with. We send back a fixed price for the round trip. Booking on the Sarajevo Transfer homepage. Many guests book the quad day as part of a longer Bosnia private tour rather than a same-day round trip.
Frequently asked questions
Do I need a special licence to ride a quad on Jahorina?
No special licence — a regular B-category driving licence is enough. Most operators give you a short crash course before the ride to cover the basic controls. If you’ve never ridden a quad before, say so when booking and they’ll match you with a quieter route.
Can children ride on Jahorina quads?
Children can ride as passengers (usually from age 6+) but they can’t drive. Operators set their own minimum age for passengers. Confirm before booking. Helmets in child sizes are usually available.
Are Jahorina quad rides guided?
Almost always, yes. Self-drive on these mountains isn’t really practical because the trails aren’t signposted and the terrain changes fast in different conditions. Going with a guide is the standard format.
How much does it cost to rent a quad on Jahorina?
Roughly 50-80 KM (€25-40) per hour for a guided 2-person ride. Full-day rates are cheaper per hour. Premium quads or specialised winter rides cost more. Operators publish price lists on their websites. Confirm in writing because prices change between summer and winter.
Can I rent a quad on Jahorina in winter?
Yes — Jahorina Quad Rental Adventures and a few other operators run winter rides when snow conditions allow. The route is different (forest tracks rather than the high plateau) and you’ll need warmer clothing. Not every operator offers this, so confirm before travelling.
Is quad riding allowed inside the Jahorina ski resort area in summer?
Yes. The ski piste service roads are part of the standard summer quad routes. Operators have agreements with the resort to use specific tracks. You won’t be riding directly down ski slopes (the surface isn’t suitable), but the access roads around the lifts are part of the network.
Should I book ahead or walk up?
Book ahead. Walk-up is sometimes possible mid-week, but weekends and holidays usually fill up. A day or two ahead is enough during most of the season. For the August holiday weeks, book at least a week out.
Are there other adventure activities on Jahorina besides quads?
Several. Mountain biking on the lift-served downhill trails, paragliding from the upper plateau, hiking on the network of marked trails, and zip lining at smaller operators near the resort. Most of these are seasonal, the active months are May to October. In winter, the same mountain reverts to skiing — see our overviews of Jahorina ski slopes and ski schools on Jahorina for that side of things.
